Honey the Gecko’s here: Sticking by us as we scale new heights and make learning stick.

What a day for the Herpetological Society of GCA, aka Reptile Club!

Today we got the pleasure of a visit from Clare of the National Centre for Reptile Welfare who came to help ‘Honey’ the Leopard Gecko settle happily into her new home in KG20.

Honey was joined by ‘Fluffy’ the python and of course our beloved handsome-devil of a Bearded Dragon, ‘Rex’ who we have also rehoused thanks to this link-up with the NCRW.

Clare talked us through the valuable work she and the NCRW do alongside South London Reptile Rescue in looking after unwanted pets and trying to find happy and suitable homes for the animals.

It's just so good for the kids and for our school community and giving different kids different opportunities to learn and thrive and build a culture where it feels like something special is going on.

Note from Clare (National Centre for Reptile Welfare):

‘I just wanted to say a massive thank you for inviting me over and making what I thought was going to be a super hard day so relaxing and easy. I can't lie, I was full of anxiety, but you were all amazing.

Fluffy was super tired when we got home and quickly went to bed- thank you for being so gentle with him.

Seeing how Rex is living now and how healthy and happy he is, makes this journey so worth it!

Seeing all your smiling faces and what impact he is having on you is a bonus!

I'm so proud of each one of you, especially for the efforts you have and are putting into not only his wellbeing but his husbandry too. His Viv looks amazing, and I can't wait to see his new enclosure with all his hides, rocks, branches, and dirt- it’s going to look so good!

Thank you for adopting him and also your new class friend Honey. I hope she brings you much enjoyment and pleasure just as Rex does.

Rex and Honey are both very lucky to have amazing children to love, cherish and look after them. Thank you so much!
