Introduction
Students will achieve their highest academic potential at the Academy through the broad and balanced learning experiences we offer, and they will always be encouraged to enjoy learning for its own sake.
The heart of the curriculum should be that it meets the needs of children, enabling them to become successful, resilient, confident and empathic learners, well-equipped individuals able to take their place in our society as responsible citizens.
This means offering a range of subjects, both academic and vocational, with a variety of pathways through to Year 13.
To enable us to meet the needs of all our students, we will adapt the core curriculum where appropriate. We also aim to provide a range of learning experiences, both in and outside the classroom, which go beyond the statutory requirements.
Across all ages and abilities the curriculum addresses knowledge, skills and understanding. Values and ethos arise from these or discreetly as appropriate.
For each of these areas our curriculum looks to build on previous achievements whilst developing new and more advanced dimensions to learning.
We have a curriculum delivery structure based around Key Stage 3 lasting three years, Key Stage 4 lasting two years and culminating in public examinations and Key Stage 5 usually lasting two years and again culminating in public examinations.
"Teachers have strong subject knowledge and are enthusiastic about what they teach." Ofsted 2019
