Lessons at 10 - a visit to 10 Downing Street

23rd Nov 2023

On Friday 17th November, as part of their participation in Greig City Academy’s Enterprise and STEM Club and their commitment to the Young Enterprise Company Programme, I took a group of Year 10, Year 11 and Year12 students to attend Lessons at 10 at 10 Downing Street. Lessons at 10 is a programme that opens No.10 to students for educational visits every Friday. These sessions are organised by the No.10 team and are hosted by the Prime Minister's wife, Mrs Akshata Murthy.

Throughout the sessions, our students came up with some brilliant pitches on how they could grow £10, participated in a range of aspirational activities, workshops and tailored discussions with Mrs Akshata Murthy, personally gifted their Young Enterprise and Beehive Club products to her and we were all given insight into the historical relevance of the building and how the street became Downing Street. Since Friday, our school’s visit has been publicised by Mrs Akshata Murthy via her Instagram (home to 255K+ Followers)Young Enterprise UK, and Karen Pollard – Greig City Academy’s Enterprise Coordinator courtesy of Central London Careers Hub via Reed in Partnerships

Thank you to Mr Hilmi for coming along.
