If you have a passion for sports and aspire to pursue a career in the sports, leisure or fitness industries, this course is ideal for you. The program covers a wide range of sports and provides an in-depth understanding of the various career options available in the sports and leisure industry.
At GCA, you will receive practical lessons and have access to external sports facilities in north London. We have established strong links with local sports facilities and organisations such as the London Youth Games to ensure that you have ample opportunities to learn and grow. Our experienced coaches and teachers will provide a fun and friendly environment for you to learn and play sports.
The course is equivalent to 1 A level and is a minimum of 1-year programme of study. It is designed for students who are passionate about sports and interested in pursuing a career in this field.
The course covers a variety of sporting topics through units of work, which vary depending on the course selected. The BTEC in Sport provides practical experience in the world of sports and includes visits to sporting facilities, offering valuable insights into possible careers in this field. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to undertake coaching and fitness qualifications and participate in a broad range of sporting activities.

BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Sport
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sport (This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels).
Entry requirements
1-year course: BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Sport
Applicants must have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English, Math, and Science. A GCSE at grade 3 or above in GCSE PE is desirable.
2-year course: BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sport
Applicants must have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, Maths, and Science. A GCSE at grade 4 or above in GCSE PE is desirable.

55% of work is marked through assignment both external and internally graded.
40% of the course is assessed by written exam, which is graded externally.
5% of work is assessed through practical assessment, which is graded both internally and externally.
