Scaling the Wild: Year 11’s Epic Reptile Club Journey!

22nd Apr 2025

Last term saw a super-exciting trip, led by Ms Atlagic, for some Year 11 members of the Reptile Club to the National Centre for Reptile Welfare.

GCA has a great working relationship with the NCRW that is going to see some of our pupils have access to veterinary work experience placements and a link being established with the University of Greenwich.

Well done to Sianna-Leigh, Kiera, Manuela and Arman (who did this trip on a Saturday as we can’t have Year 11s missing lessons in the week!!)

The NCRW were really impressed with them, saying:

‘Please thank Sianna, Kiera Manuela and Arman for an enjoyable trip to NCRW, being able to watch them on Saturday was an experience for us too, to see all 4 beaming with excitement, enthusiasm, seriousness and pride was very satisfying, please let them know we’re extremely grateful to have been able to not only spend the day with them but see how they acted and represented you as a teacher (Ms Atlagic) and their school, they are amazing!

Arman, Manuela, Keira, Sienna DONT EVER CHANGE!! THANKS KIDDO’S

An unbelievable day for the Reptile Club of GCA was rounded off with these intrepid young zoologists bringing back an Ackee monitor lizard, a crested gecko, a corn snake, a blue-tongued skink (he’s massive!) and would you believe it… our very own red-tailed Boa Constrictor!!!

Yes, you read that right, we are a school with a Boa Constrictor!!

Congrats and thank you to Ms Atlagic and the Y11 Herpetologists!!!
