5th Dec 2024Reward Trip for students who have all attended EAL paired reading club in the library on Thursdays, receiving 3 credits per visit, and becoming eligible for trips after they've participated 5 times!
The museum was a brilliant examination of the history of the postal service in the UK, from horse-drawn carriages and postmasters throwing the mail through windows to save time, to the struggle to keep the service running during the Blitz in WW2.
The students designed their own stamps, came up with ideas for new and improved postal worker uniforms, and even got to dress up and deliver letters and postcards.
The highlight of the trip was a trip on the 'Mail Rail', the (rather claustrophobic!) train that transported letters and parcels from different sorting offices around London, operational until 2003.
