Back to newsCelebrating last year's Jack Petchey Award winners
2nd Oct 2023On 27th September, we took part in a cross-Haringey ceremony to celebrate last year's deserving Jack Petchey Foundation achievement award winners and our three teachers who won Leader Awards.
This achievement award scheme is run by the Jack Petchey Foundation. Eight students in Years 7-11 and three in the sixth form received an award celebrating their achievement in an area of school life. The Foundation gives the school funds for each of the months that we make the award and the winners help choose how to spend the money to support a school activity.
The Foundation also recognises that lots of the activities young people enjoy would not be possible without the support of their adult leaders, so they created the Leader Award. Last year, three inspiring teachers won GCA’s Leader Award: Ms Osei, Mr Hilmi and Ms Bullock. Ms Osei moved to another school as a Head of Department but we were delighted that she was able to join us at the ceremony.
As the award winners went on stage to receive their medallions and have photographs taken, the presenter read out the reasons for their being chosen for the award.
Our student winners were:
Kai, Jasmine and Ashly, all now in Year 13
Samantha, now Year 12
Malica, Jason and Svetlin, now Year 11,
Ivan, now Year 8
Laura, Storm and Ashley, now Year 9
Congratulations all!
