The Eco Club visited Railway Fields

16th Jan 2023

On a chilly afternoon we went to visit Railway Fields Nature Reserve. It was a long walk from GCA to Haringey Green Lanes It was fun and interesting to see a hidden tiny green space with lot of wild animals and shelters for them. It was nice and interesting because I have learnt a lot of things about nature. I and Jakob saw a train very close up to the nature reserve, this was the old train track from the 19th century. It was also very educating to learn about nature in an outdoor space, the amount of green space that is out there, all the species that are there, little creatures that live there and their habitats and many more interesting methods that used by the local volunteers to protect this little green island in the heart of London.

We found out that nature reserve is ecologically important in the city to protect biodiversity. It is amazing how communities could work together to provide living space to animals and keep protecting them. We also learnt that Railway Fields nature reserve is run by TCV, which is the conservation volunteers. They have been dedicated to reclaiming green places since 1959. It was a good day out with Ms Takacs and we hope to see more nature reserve in the future.
